A Ballet Vision

I was fitting a student with their first pair of ballet slippers the other day, when I was taken completely by surprise by a vision that suddenly appeared before me. I saw a possible future, from this dancer's first tentative steps, to her stage debut, to her growing up, and growing into her art form. I was moved almost to tears by the power of the vision. The dancer was a little confused by my reaction, but I told her that getting her first ballet shoes was an important moment in her dance life, and I was honoured to be the one facilitating it.

​There are so many dance forms worthy of study, and ballet is but one. But for students who find their way into ballet, there is a world of beauty and challenge there, and I would wish that opportunity for any dancers who want it.
