Updated: June 14, 2024
General overview:
- Students enroll for the season, which runs from September 2024 to June 2025, with an option to withdraw mid-year (December 31) by notifying us by email by November 22 (except for Performance Company, which is a season-long commitment). Though tuition for the entire season is due at registration, along with a yearly membership (registration) fee and any other fees as indicated, for your convenience, we offer an option to pay tuition in monthly instalments through automatic credit card debit (Auto-Pay). Note that tuition listed on this site is the MONTHLY tuition instalment before HST. Event fees and costume rental fees are charged separately from class fees.
- Interested in tuition subsidies that may be available? Click the link at the bottom of this page to email us for more info.
- We have a full dance performance calendar this year! In addition to two big dance performances -- one before the Christmas holidays, and one in the spring -- and our Aerial Open House in June, we have some community outreach events as well.
- Check out the Year-At-A-Glance Calendar for event dates, schedule changes and fee due dates. The link is at the bottom of this page.
- Performances and other activities are special events that are not fully covered by fees. We need your help to make them run, so keep an eye out for volunteer opportunities.
- ABCs of Dance students and ATRIUM Aerial students have a dress code: clothing a student must wear for personal safety and comfort while moving. Most students will have these items in their closets already.
- ACADEMY Dance students (ages 6 to 18) wear a uniform and class-specific footwear. These are fitted and purchased through the studio, and are distributed to students and charged to your account as supplies are available.
- Listed age ranges refer to the child's age as at December 31, 2024. Class placement and advancement is at the discretion of the instructor.
- Students in may find themselves more or less advanced than their classmates. They agree to be compassionate towards themselves and encouraging to others.
- As part of their dance education, students will be given monthly "watch assignments" -- links to dance videos to watch at home -- that we will then be discussing and referencing in class.
- To encourage students to see expand their dance education beyond the studio by attending live dance performances, we will pay for your dancer to go to a show! Just bring in the student's paid ticket to a dance performance, and we will credit your account the face value of up to $30 towards future studio fees! (Limit of one show per student per 2024/25 season.)
Class logistics:
- Classes that do not reach full enrolment may be combined or cancelled.
- Class start/stop times may change to accommodate changing requirements.
- All class inquiries and fee payments are to happen through your online account or over the phone.
- Tot & caregiver classes are subject to a one-child-per-adult ratio, and all children attending class must be enrolled in that class. Exceptions may be made for current students who are older siblings of enrolled toddlers, on a pre-arranged case-by-case basis, depending on space availability.
- Makeup classes (dropping in to another scheduled class to make up for a missed class) may be available as space allows, by reserving 24 hours in advance. Zooming into classes may also be an option if arranged in advance. Classes missed because of snow days or other cancellations will not be rescheduled.
- All snacks and food brought into the studio must be nut-free. Please send water bottles only (no juices or other drinks).
- Our lobby does not currently have a dedicated observation area, but carers of younger students are invited in to watch and/or join in class during periodic Observation/Participation Weeks.
When attending class:
- Students are to observe class etiquette including:
- Being fully dressed in their uniforms for each class, with hair tied back securely and pinned out of face. Aerial students are to dress in clean activewear that they put on just prior to class. All students are reminded to check their feet for freshness before attending class.
- Packing their dance bag with their water bottle, and dance shoes / stuffed animal / log book and pen if applicable, and bringing it to every class.
- Students arrive at the studio about five minutes before class, and wait in the lobby until invited into the studio. For students walking to the studio directly after school, the studio lobby opens at 3:30p.
- ⚠️ WATCH OUT for the curb to your right as you drive into the parking lot, making sure to pull completely past it before turning towards the studio to avoid damaging your vehicle.
- Young students are not allowed to cross the parking lot on their own, so please exit your vehicle and approach the studio door when picking up your student. If it looks like there's room in the foyer, you can come on in! Please keep outside shoes off of the purple rug, so as to maintain a clean and dry place for our students to gather.
- Class begins and ends on time, and caregivers are asked to pick up their students promptly, so staff can be available to prepare the studio between classes.
Students are reminded to:
- Clean and fill water bottles at home.
- Go to the washroom at home before leaving.
- Take all refuse and food wrappers home with them.
Students agree to:
- Be respectful and inclusive of others.
- Keep themselves and each other safe.
- Work hard and have fun!
Post-Pandemic Considerations:
- Class start/stop times may change to accommodate changing requirements.
- Mask wearing is currently optional at the studio.
- Ill and COVID-19-exposed students are required to stay home, where they are welcome to join us remotely instead. Email us by noon on the day of class (7a on Saturdays) so we can set up the remote connection. Students may be required by Public Health to self-screen before attending the studio. Click here for the province's screening tool.
- If in-studio DANCE class capacity levels are temporarily reduced through official order, we then move to a rotating schedule where each week where some students attend class remotely while the rest attend at the studio.
- In the event of a government-issued stay-at-home directive given during the session, in-studio DANCE classes may move online until authorized to return. In that case, students will need access to a cleared space of around six feet by six feet with a floor that is safe to dance on, plus an internet-enabled device and an internet connection. Other items will be needed on a class-by-class basis. If dance classes do not move online, dance fees will be put on pause.
- In the event of a government- issued stay-at-home directive given during the session, all in-studio AERIAL classes and fees will be paused and will resume when we are allowed to return to in-studio classes. In this case, all aerial students are welcome to join any online dance classes offered at their level for no extra charge.
- ** We ask for your patience and flexibility as we navigate this post-pandemic normal, understanding that the rules we are required to abide by may change at any time, or that we may even be required to close the studio to in-person classes again. **
NOTE: All participants / guardians must acknowledge and sign our updated 1) Waiver, 2) Enrolment and Payment Terms Agreement, and 3) Privacy Policy through their online account and abide by all new policies and procedures. We reserve the right to immediately remove any person displaying any symptoms of sickness and/or who does not respect the updated policies and procedures of the studio.
